The HTC EVO 4G draw some attention to Sprint's WiMAX network, but T-Mobile has also been hard at work at expanding its HSPA+ footprint. In case you forgot, T-Mobile HSPA+ is a high-speed wireless network that is able to theoretically pump out speeds of up to 21 mbps.
There is a real WiMAX 4G vs HSPA+ competition going on. And T-Mobile's network is actually holding its own as Sprint's WiMAX 4G network is still immature.
Here are the latest markets in this major T-Mobile HSPA+ footprint expansion:
- Los Angeles
- Dallas
- Atlanta
- Houston
- Seattle
- Tampa and Orlando, Fla.
- Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, N.C.
- Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.
- New Orleans
- Charleston, S.C.
- Bentonville, Ark.
- Anderson, S.C.
- Fayetteville, N.C.
These new markets are expected to be live with HSPA+ by the end of the month, creating a footprint that covers 75 million POPs across the U.S.
This latest round of expansion places T-Mobile on track to have 100 major markets and 185 million people covered by HSPA+ by the end of 2010.
Tune in for more news and updates on T-Mobile's HSPA+ wireless network.
