Sprint to Decide on LTE 4G Opton in Four to Six Months

It appears that Sprint is feeling the pressure of the LTE vs WiMAX dilemma. The carrier's WiMAX 4G network has been operating for a few years already and has a line-up of excellent US 4G smartphones. However, the looming presence of LTE 4G and its increasing influence is forcing the carrier to decide whether it will build a Long Term Evolution network.

This WiMAX vs LTE decision will be challenging for Sprint but it will decide on a course of action in four to six months. Sprint executives at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona revealed that the carrier will examine how its customers migrate from CDMA to WiMax 4G. The result will greatly influence the decision to stay with WiMax 4G or switch to Long Term Evolution.

Sprint will also take a close look at how best to use its spectrum assets for 4G services.

Well, it appears that Long Term Evolution has the momentum in the WiMAX vs LTE war. Stay tuned for the update on Sprint's decision to stay with WiMax 4G or switch to LTE 4G.
