LTE 4G's first smartphone has surfaced. The Samsung SCH-r900 for MetroPCS was first introduced at CTIA 2010 and it has reappeared at the testing halls of the FCC.
Will this smartphone be able to stand up against the HTC EVO 4G and the Samsung Epic 4G?
Well, the FCC documents reveal little about the Samsung SCH-r900. It's likely to be a smartphone since the documents reveal that it will support Bluetooth, 802.11b/g WiFi, dual-band 1700 / 1900 LTE and EvDO data.
However, there's a good chance that it won't be able to match Sprint's WiMAX 4G smartphones. It will be carried by a regional market and sold a limited market at the end of this summer. Verizon's handsets will probably be the ones to rumble with Sprint's monsters but there's also a chance that Samsung and MetroPCS will surprise us.
