
The first LTE 4G network in the US has been launched. Metro PCS has officially announced the commercial launch of its 4G LTE services in the United States. The company will provide talk, text and 4G Web access starting as low as $55 per month including taxes and regulatory fees. The company's LTE 4G service will initially be available in Las Vegas, Nev. but will expand into the remaining Metro PCS cities throughout the year.
MetroPCS has also unveiled the Samsung Craft, the first commercially available 4G LTE enabled handset in the US. This impressive smartphone features a 3.3-inch AMOLED display, 1x/EV-DO CDMA and LTE radios. It will also provide GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, micro-SD card (expandable to 32 GB), and 3.2 megapixel camera.
The Samsung Craft LTE 4G smartphone will retail for $299 after a $50 mail-in-rebate.
Now will this officially start the LTE vs WiMAX batle. Perhaps, we need to wait for Verizon's upcoming 4G network before we can begin the WiMAX vs LTE clash.
