Apple LTE 4G Devices On the Way?

What do you think of the iPhone 5 and iPad 2 with support for LTE 4G? I think it's an awesome combination. The high-end features of Apple's mobile devices combined with the blazing speeds of a LTE 4G network. But will this become a reality? Well, Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead recently indicated in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that Apple will eventually offer devices that support the carrier's Long Term Evolution 4G network.

Verizon Wireless finally release its first LTE 4G smartphone next month. Circulating reports indicate that the HTC Thunderbolt will be released sometime in March.
There are different dates that are being rumored as the official day for the handset's release. A forum poster at the Android Forums has been tipped that it will be launched on March 3rd or 4th. A Best Buy in California href="http://twitter.com/#!/bestbuy129">confirmed a March 4th release via twitter. A leaked Best Buy document pointed to March 10 as the HTC Thunderbolt release date.

Verizon Wireless LTE 4G Arrives in Motor City

The folks and businesses in Detroit will soon enjoy the benefits of the Verizon Wireless LTE 4G network. The carrier has announced that more than 80 percent of the population in the metropolitan Detroit area will be able to access its LTE 4G network starting on Feb. 17. This next generation wireless network can offer average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
HTC Thunderbolt to Support Simultaneous Voice and Data over LTE 4G

Verizon's CDMA smartphones are unable to support simultaneous voice and data but the upcoming HTC Thunderbolt may change that trend. A leaked training document indicates that this upcoming Verizon Wireless smartphone will support simultaneous voice and data where LTE 4G service is available.
Verizon Wireless announced at CES 20111 that not all of its LTE 4G smartphones would support simultaneous voice and data. This makes the HTC Thunderbolt more attractive to consumers.

Is the HTC Thunderbolt the first Verizon Wireless LTE 4G Smartphone?

Sprint has already introduced three WiMAX 4G smartphones but it appears that Verizon's first LTE 4G smartphone can compete against them. Rumors recently outed a high-end smartphone called the HTC Thrunderbolt. This device is being rumored as the first Verizon Wireless LTE 4G smartphone.
The HTC Thunderbolt is expected to feature a 4.3-inch screen, 1.2GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash, a 5 megapixel front-facing camera and Android 2.3.
ITU: 4G Can be Applied to WiMAX, LTE, HSPA+ and other Evolved 3G Technologies

The ITU (International Telecommunication Union), the authority that determines the definition of 4G, recently certified LTE-Advanced and 802.16m WiMAX 2 as the only technologies that meet the requirements for a fourth generation wireless network. However, it appears that the agency has changed its mind. Check out this statement:
"It is recognized that [4G], while undefined, may also be applied to the forerunners of these technologies, LTE and WiMax, and to other evolved 3G technologies providing a substantial level of improvement in performance and capabilities with respect to the initial third generation systems now deployed."
