Can the First LTE Smartphone Match the Success of the HTC EVO 4G for WiMAX?

The HTC EVO 4G is one of the key pieces in the ongoing WiMAX vs LTE rivalry. Sprint and Clear managed to draw first blood by launching the first US smartphone for a WiMAX 4G network. The consumers have responded very well to the handset and is currently sold out. Will the first LTE handset be able to match this success?

Many people were hoping the this year's iPhone will come with support for AT&T's upcoming LTE network. However, iPhone 4 turned out to be more HD than 4G and the wait for the first LTE handset continues.

The HTC EVO 4G would be a formidable device even without 4G. It has a very large screen, an 8MP camera, Android OS and a powerful processor. It's an impressive entertainment device and one that can pull consumers into trying the WiMAX 4G network.

However, as impressive as the EVO 4G is, it's still a pioneer device and future WiMAX 4G devices will be more advanced and offer more features. LTE is backed by strong supporters like AT&T and Verizon who won't pull any punches when competing in the 4G age. A DROID 4G or iPhone 4G will also be as succesful than the EVO 4G.

Competition is a good thing and the LTE vs WiMAX rivalry will bring in quality handsets and other devices that consumers will enjoy.
