
Some people think that LTE has a lot more potential than LTE. However, WiMAX 4G is more than a step ahead when it comes to smartphones which could be an advantage in the WiMAX vs LTE rivalry. Sprint has just introduced the second smartphone to support its WiMAX 4G network.
The Samsung Epic 4G is a variant of the popular Galaxy S. This smartphone will eventually be available on multiple carriers with each version tailored to the whims of he carrier that will offer it to consumers.
Sprint's Epic 4G features a few characteristics that set it apart from other Galaxy S versions. It sports a s=ide slider design with a full QWERTY keyboard and it offers the same high-end 4 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen. It als offers other top of the line features such as Android 2.1, 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and 512MB of RAM , 5 megapixel camera with 720p video and a VGA camera on the front. This WiMAX 4G device also offers the ability to act as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five other devices.
The addition of this new handset expands the options of new and existing WiMAX 4G consumers. This also puts pressure on the upcoming LTE 4G networks. Attractive smartphones are expected to be a significant part of the LTE vs WiMAX battle so they have to hustle before Sprint releases more impressive handsets.
